Eastern Shore wedding photos // Jenna + Billy’s best day ever
I live for the days that don’t feel rushed, where there is space for the beautiful.
Where time is abundant and there is always a minute to make one more memory as the sun sets on the water.
I could say a lot of things about these photos – the colors, the light – all things that are lovely in their own right. Things that can be recreated on another day or that are rather wedding generic.
But what I want to say is this: sometimes I feel like I really get to know a couple. We work together for over a year, and our paths cross through emails and photo shoots and over champagne meetings. These things can be as casual or as intimate as you want to make them, but I will always love most the ones who share the bits and pieces of their lives as it happens – the joys of new houses and building a life together, the family and friend drama that always comes with any life change, the highs and lows of a life in the craziness of a transition. These are the things we bond over, the things that make me feel like a part of the joy of the wedding day, not just looking in from the outside.
I think it was Jenna’s sister who shared a story in her toast about the first time their family met Billy – he came over to Jenna’s family’s house, and was SO friendly and SO inviting it felt like he was welcoming them into HIS home, not the other way around. He gives real, strong hugs and greets you like you’re his best friend, a treasured presence in his circle. Together, he and Jenna create a space of acceptance, friendship, and lightness that is a joy to find yourself in.
It would be impossible for me to not be sad that this wedding is over, because getting to know these two fabulous people has been the greatest gift of our time together. I am glad that the months we had were long, not rushed. That planning over many days and the process of getting ready for a wedding means really getting to know some of the most wonderful humans who find themselves walking a path that intersects with yours. The greatest gift of being a part of a wedding that leaves space for the beautiful are the new friends you find yourself with after sharing all of the wonderful things along the journey you took together.
