Chesapeake Bay Beach Club wedding photos // Jen + Mike’s Best Day Ever!
I will forever love the song that Ben and I first danced to at our wedding, The Luckiest by Ben Folds. This is one of the verses:
What if I had been born fifty years before you
In a house on the street
Where you lived
Maybe I’d be outside as you passed on your bike. Would I know?
Every time I hear this, I think of the house my parents almost bought right across the street from Ben’s childhood home. What if we had grown up as neighbors…would we have known that we were each other’s person? Maybe that would have changed everything, or maybe it would have changed nothing.
I’m a full-hearted believer in serendipity, and I think our lives always bring us to exactly the places and people we’re supposed to be with at exactly the right time.
Which brings me to Jen and Mike and their Chesapeake Bay Beach Club wedding photos and their beautiful love story.
When Jen and Mike met online, they had no idea that they had previously lived in the same apartment building, floors apart, for years. But life was not ready for them to meet just then.
Upon connecting online, Mike immediately asked for a date – not just drinks or a meet up to test the waters. This date was the real deal: he picked Jen up, they walked to dinner, and fell easily into each other’s company. Dinner turned into a three hour conversation, and when the restaurant closed, they walked back to Jen’s apartment.
And this is where my heart melts.
At the end of their first date, Mike turned to Jen and asked genuinely, “Did you have a good time?” and “Would you like to do it again?” as he would after all of their earliest rendezvous.
Because this is just one real way that shows how considerate and compassionate Mike is when it comes to Jen. He is always gently cherishing her, whether ensuring she had a good time or holding her hand or sweetly kissing her – just be sure she knows she is loved.
But for Mike, this is just his way of showing Jen how much he appreciates her quiet strength and friendship, giving them both a space to be completely themselves.
Who knows what would have happened if they had met all those years before, in the hall, on the street or by the mailbox. It’s so, so clear that they are absolutely meant for each other.
