Cheerful Inspiration // Darling Magazine Review
I’m finding that January is my month to soak up inspiration, in all shapes and places. But as much as I love Pinterest, there is still something special about picking up beautiful work in a tangible form, studying it and gleaning something new from each glance of the page. In my world, magazines are modern, of-the-moment art.
And I love that “indie” magazines are having a day, reimagining the style and function of periodic publications. I can’t help but pick them up to leaf through the colorful, thick matte pages every time I pass one thoughtfully laid out, among other trinkets and treasures on the tables of a sweet boutique, in a half-book-half-magazine style that is certainly meant to be savored and kept.
Darling is special in that it is lovingly curated to inspire its reader to create a life of beauty while embodying love – and the thoughtfully written (ad-free) content is perfectly paired with the most beautiful photographs.
And oh the photographs…they are the makings of my dreams. As I look among the pages, the images take me to warm happy places filled with glamour and sweetness and laughter and fun. They make me want to create happy everyday moments – simple adventures – to capture and remember forever.
Although not the most recent version, this one speaks to my soul. I happened upon the summer issue from last year and the bright colors (and the balloons on the cover) were exactly the distraction I needed from the blues of winter, a reminder that life will be warm and sunny again. It currently resides on my coffee table, where I can slowly savor the delicious inspiration it brings for the type of art I want to create in the year ahead.
Are there books/magazines/art/photography that you love, that provide you endless amounts of inspiration? Please do tell!
(This post is not affiliated with Darling Magazine…I just love sharing cheerful brands that inspire me and that you might love too! You might also enjoy looking at their beautiful, thoughtful blog.)
