Inspirations // 03
While we’re on the subject of having more time and finding new hobbies, can I mention that I would love to try flower arranging?
I can’t keep flowers in my own house, but I am so inspired by the flowers I see gracing the tables at dinner parties and on the side tables in every catalog and house tour. They add such a simple beauty and sense of happiness to the scene, I can’t help but fall in love with the space or the party idea depicted. Suffice it to say, any place that has arrangements of fresh, colorful, beautiful flowers is my happy place.
Nobody, in my humble opinion, does flowers better than Amy Merrick. Her creations have a free-spirited colorfulness with a pinch of classicism that is both refreshing and intriguing. In some ways wild but always restrained, she uses a variety of colors, shapes and sizes to create wonderful variations, and I would give up desserts to photograph an arrangement of hers.
These happen to be a few of my favorites, and I love them for their uniqueness. But each one has the personality of the event that it was from, while still being true to her style.
Have you been inspired by flowers? Who does your favorites? Everyone has a favorite flower…what’s yours?

Eep! Why are we not neighbors!?!? I’ve been wanting to take a floral arrangement class for a long time. I’m trying to do things to help me stay creative and relieve stress. So…I’ve been eyeing Amy Merrick’s workshop dates and… Bri Emery of DESIGNLOVEFEST to see if she would host another floral arranging workshop. We should go to one together in the future!
