Second Shooter // 15 // Grand Historic Venue
So many times, when I ask my brides and grooms what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day, they reply with sharing the day with their family and friends. I love this. I love that the fact that this is a celebration about adding to the family has not been lost, that they are still so grateful for these special people in their lives.
It follows, then, that getting pictures of the family and friends who were there to celebrate is so incredibly important. But when timelines are tight and there is so much to squeeze in on a wedding day, it helps to have a second photographer there to capture the moments happening on the sidelines, among those special people who came from near and far to be a part of the best day ever.
And some of those most special people are of the tiny variety. I remember the first time I went to a wedding – when I was five; my sister and I were the flower girls – and it was such a treat to be on the dance floor with the grown-ups. Everyone wanted to dance with us, and we (thought we) were the hit of the party. I have no doubt that those magical memories of being a part of something so beautiful have influenced my love of weddings to this day.
That memory is, I think, what draws me to these two photos.
So much thanks to Dani (who just got back from the most amazing trip to Africa) for letting me come along again. Here’s to wedding season part two!
