I feel like this photo is cheerful in a quiet, inner-joy kind of way.

We didn’t have much time to do bride and groom portraits, but we made the most of what we had. There wasn’t a lot location-wise to work with either, but the light…oh the light. It was right around sunset and the warmth of the late afternoon sun made up for all of the other pieces. None of the rest of it mattered with light so good.

We found an opening next to the parish house of the church. It’s so easy in this kind of light to go for backlight because it creates such a wonderful glow. While Dani worked that angle, I moved in close from the side. After this, I might be losing my allegiance to backlight…there’s something so wonderful about this directional stuff.

What makes it work so well here is the slight turn of the face so that the light falls softly through the veil and illuminates her smile. A gentle kiss on the cheek brings a closeness and authentic happiness…and I just want to sigh and live in the moment of feeling so loved.
