If there’s a thing I want more of, it’s being able to connect with humans in real life and create spaces that celebrate being human.
And that is why I’m super stoked to tell you that I’ll be teaching a regular, weekly, in-person yoga class, starting this Thursday evening.
Since last summer, I’ve been subbing classes on an as-needed basis at the gym I belong to in Austin. And you might remember that back in December, I offered a four-week series to bring more calm to the holiday season, which gave me a chance to see how I liked teaching on a more regular basis.
Committing to a regular weekly class helps me grow my teaching practice and my ability to hold space for all humans. Just like the class I taught last December, this will be a relaxing, restorative, and rejuvenating yoga class.
My hope is that this becomes an experience where you can show up to connect with yourself, to bring attention to what your body is feeling or sensing, and to make your needs for care and self-compassion visible in a space that supports you in every way.
As always, this is for all levels and abilities – a desire to show up is all you need. You can expect gentle stretching, guided movement and breathwork.
What I realized after writing about our trip to west Texas and New Mexico, is that for every single thing I bring to life (sell, teach, make – pick your preferred version), there is a sneaky formula. It’s to start by creating a container with a purpose where the boundaries prioritize comfort and basic needs being met and connecting to self, AND THEN allowing for spontaneity inside that container. Most importantly, there will always be room for choices. This is the process of any photo shoot, but it’s the blueprint for yoga too: make a map (in yoga: a sequence) so you know where you’re going, and then be willing to follow what feels alive in the moment, to let yourself improvise, and let your intuition lead the way.
If you’d like to come take a class, to make time for deep, nourishing self-care, I’d be thrilled to see you. (And be on the lookout for other pop-up, private yoga experiences coming soon!)
