A Glossary

Good to Know

Hourly photo coverage

Collections include seven, nine, or ten hours of wedding-day photography coverage. Eight or nine hours is standard for photos of getting ready through a bit of dancing, and hours can always be added to any collection.

Second photographer

A second photographer is the secret weapon allowing me to be in two places at once. Great to have if you want photos of guys + girls getting ready, or if you have a large wedding party or guest list.

Digital images

Pictures that live on a computer and come with a personal use license that gives you permission to share your photos on social media and with friends + family.

Photo books + Albums

Modern storybooks that let you hold your memories in your hands, timelessly designed, customized just for you, using fine-art materials that will let your grandkids and great-grandkids share in the joy of your beautiful beginning.

Color correction + Online galleries

A curated gallery, stored safely in the cloud, of edited images that perfectly tell the story of your day, organized and delivered with basic color, contrast, and exposure corrections.

Portrait sessions

How far in advance do you book?

For weddings, it’s best to reach out as soon as you have a firm date, ideally about a year in advance. Weekday weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions in the Baltimore/Annapolis area can usually be booked as little as two weeks in advance. Weekend engagement sessions are usually available as early as 6-8 weeks from booking.

Are you LGBTQIA friendly?

Love is love is love is love is love is love is love. Hell to the yes. If you are in love (even if it’s simply with life), then I want to work with you and shower you with even more love. All people in love are my favorite kind.

Getting my picture taken makes me nervous. What can I expect it to be like?

I’m trying every day to live from my heart. And that’s all I ask of you – just to try. While we’re making photos, I want you to be completely yourself. I know it feels vulnerable and strange, but I promise that it will be worth it if you let your guard down. I LOVE making beautiful photos and I promise my joy and excitement are contagious! I will tell you 1,000 times how fabulous and perfect you are…and I mean it every time.

This isn’t all about looking at the camera and smiling. Some of the photos will be candid, and some will be naturally posed, but it should always feel authentic and fun, never stiff or uncomfortable. I will always put you in beautiful light. And if you really want to know the way to my heart, let me help you plan it & style it! I hope you’ll get my weird sense of humor – and you’ll share your quirks with me – and that we’ll laugh a lot as we’re making beautiful pictures together.

Do you travel?

Absolutely! Traveling may be my favorite thing to do…ever. I love weddings in unusual places, especially outdoor places or places that are really personal to you. Travel to destinations within 100 miles round trip is included with hourly coverage; outside of 100 miles, there will be a travel fee added on a case-by-case basis.

What time should I plan to do my engagement session or wedding portraits?

A lot of this will depend on the location, and we’ll definitely talk about it when we’re planning your timeline or session. For outdoor locations, sunrise and sunset make everything look AMAZING and if you really want these to be the best photos of your life, we should try to do your photos as soon as the sun comes up or at least 90 minutes before it goes down. Indoor locations are so variable, we’ll have to chat about it when you tell me all about where we’re taking these fabulous photos! About a month before your wedding, we’ll go over your general timeline and I will help you plan specifically for your wedding photography.

Do I need a second photographer?

I offer collections with a single photographer and with two photographers. Before you book your collection, we’ll talk about what will be the best option for your wedding based on what matters most to you. If your wedding is less than 100 people, and you value simplicity, a single photographer on your wedding day will most likely be a great fit. But as someone who has worked extensively as a second photographer, I can tell you that the full story of your day will be told better with two photographers, as it means that you’ll see the day from several angles and get more photos of the loved ones who have come to share in your celebration. I love all of my second photographers – they are amazing creative professionals who do fabulous work!

How do I know what collection is right for me?

Before you finalize your collection, we’ll meet in person to talk about what matters most to you and how to get the most out of your photography coverage, and you have the final say in the items you choose to include. I’m here to be your support system through the process and make sure you have everything you need to make the best photographs of the best day ever.

What is required to officially book you?

Before we make any firm plans, we’ll have a meeting to chat about your session or wedding day to make sure you have all of your questions answered and that we are a perfect fit. After that, a signed contract and 40% non-refundable retainer are required to reserve your date. Your date will be officially confirmed once both the contract and retainer are received.

After we book, what else will we need to provide before the wedding?

In the months before your wedding, I’m always available to answer any questions you have as you’re making your plans – I seriously love planning and helping to create timelines! About two months before your wedding, I’ll send you a link to a questionnaire where you can list important events of the day, important people, and important details so that we’re on the same page about everything that is really important to photograph.

Can we give you a list of photos we want?

I love it when you provide a list of family portraits (that you’ve discussed with your families) – it helps that part of the day run quickly and efficiently. But when it comes to details and portraits, I like to be creative and make photos in the moment so that your images are completely unique and truly a representation of the day as it is – a shot list doesn’t leave room for spontaneity!

How will we get our photos?

Your digital photos will be delivered in an online gallery, where you can download, order prints, and share them with friends and family. Your friends and family will also have the ability to download photos or order printed copies for themselves directly from the gallery, so that you don’t have to worry about taking any orders. It’s designed to be simple and easy so that you can enjoy them as soon as they are ready, which is usually within six weeks after your session or wedding day. The online gallery is available for ten years, so you can download your photos as many times as you want during that time. Collections that include a photo book or album will also receive a flash drive pre-loaded with all of the images from the wedding with the finished book or album.

Do we get the copyrights to the photos?

With the purchase or inclusion of digital images, you will have a personal use license to all of your digital photos. Personal use rights allow me to keep the copyright but give you the ability to use + share your photos without too much restriction – it’s a win-win! The high-resolution, un-watermarked images in your online gallery are yours to share and print as you please, but you can’t sell them or submit them for publication. You’ve made an investment in your photos – please enjoy them and share them to your heart’s content with those who’ve cheered you on!

We live out of state. Will it still be possible for us to work together?

Of course! The entire booking process can be completed electronically, and I’m happy to accommodate schedules and time zones.

Can you recommend other amazing people to make our wedding the best day ever?

For weddings in the Baltimore/Annapolis area, I am always happy to recommend other creatives who will help you make your day one that you will never forget! There is a florist/DJ/planner/baker/caterer/stylist, etc, for every budget and I love sending you to someone who I know will take great care of you.
